sheridan detention center
The Sheridan Detention Center was built in 1998 and was financed through a local 1% sales tax. When originally opened there were 36 inmate beds.
In 2000 the detention center was expanded and now has the capacity to hold 120 inmates.
The center houses male and female inmates for local, state and federal agencies as well as agencies in area counties.
There are sixteen employees including one animal control officers employed at the Sheridan Detention Center.
The City of Sheridan is one of only two municipalities in the State of Arkansas now operating approved detention centers.
