Detention Center

The Sheridan Detention Center was built in 1998 and was financed through a local 1% sales tax. When originally opened there were 36 inmate beds.

In 2000 the detention center was expanded and now has the capacity to hold approximately 100 inmates.  The detention center houses male and female inmates for local, state, and federal agencies.  There are sixteen employees at the Sheridan Detention Center.

The City of Sheridan is one of only two municipalities in the State of Arkansas now operating approved detention centers.
